This is the third year I'm spending the holiday season with my family in Miami, Florida. On the 24th we went to one of my cousins' house and we had typical Cuban food: lechón asado (roast suckling pig), black beans, rice, Cuban bread, and yucca. Although it's Winter here in Miami, we always eat outside because the temperature hardly ever drops below 68°F / 20°C. Also, since I have a huge family, our dinner is more like buffet-style, we have to serve ourselves and carry our own plates. We exchanged gifts on the 25th and had another dinner at my other cousins' house (she made lasagna this year!). After that, we sat outside and all my cousins played different instruments and sang happy songs.

Hope you guys are having a wonderful holiday season! :)

Hello!
I wanted to post some pictures two weeks ago when I was still in Florida. I went with my cousins to Islands of Adventure, one of Universal's themed parks in Orlando and it was GREAT! I was mostly excited to see the part of the park where Hogsmeade and Hogwarts was. It felt like being a kid/teenager again! After midday, the day got cloudy (it was still around 95ºF/35ºC) so everything seemed very magical, haha. I wish they also had this in California!

We had butterbeer ;)

This week I'm in Hallandale Beach, Florida. It has been a busy week with my parents, family and friends events, birthday parties, Cuban and Russian food, beach, rain, and really hot and humid weather.  It's hard to believe that Portugal is just on the other side of the ocean...!

I guess it kind of looks like Southern California?

Had to wake up at 6.30am to see the sunrise. East coast problems...

My birthday cake! :) As we say in Portugal, I "got married to my birthday" because I turned 24 on the 24th.
I know that I haven't posted in ages but this morning I had a long talk with my friend Ines and she told me I should restart my blog. I was not that excited at the beginning with the idea but then I thought, "why not?". I mean, I have tons of pictures in my laptop and on my cellphone that I've never shared with anyone and my family and most of my friends live really far away, so I guess those are good reasons, right?

So well, this past weekend I went with my brother, Irene and their friends to Yosemite National Park. I wanted to go there since I moved to San Diego but last year I didn't get the chance. The park was beautiful, it was like being inside a giant postcard! In one of the nights we decided to stay until late to see the stars at Glacier Point, which was a perfect spot to see Half Dome and the valley. It was really worth it, especially because one of my brother's friend brought his tripod. By the end of the night we were alone and we were scared we would be attacked by a giant bear, but fortunately nothing happened. However, on our way back, we saw a coyote crossing the road (okay, I confess, I didn't see it because I was already sleeping...).

I am finally in La Jolla and I couldn't be happier!! I am living at International House, one of the on-campus housing. 50% percent of the residents are International students and the other 50% are Americans, which is great! I'm sharing my apartment with two girls from California and a girl from China.

The weather has been great, sometimes even too hot. The UCSD campus is gorgeous! So big and full of trees! Next time I will post pictures of it!

One of my roommates' father invited us to have lunch at a really nice restaurant with a spectacular view of the La Jolla Cove. Pacific Ocean, yey!

La Jolla Cove. Some seals were swimming but you cannot see them here :(
